Welcome
Chichester District Business Against Crime (ChiBAC) was developed as a partnership between local businesses, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue, the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP), Chichester District Council, Chichester City Council, Selsey Town Council and replaced the Shopwatch and Pubwatch schemes previously operating within the city.
All businesses are affected by crime, which has created the need for a positive and co-ordinated response so that we can manage more effectively the threats posed by crime and anti-social behaviour. Quality of life is an important factor for business success; crime and the fear of crime affects visitors, businesses and residents.
- Business crime costs £19 billion a year
- Crime costs retailers £2¼ billion a year
- Increasingly staff are subjected to physical and verbal abuse
- Up to 70% of all urban crime takes place in and around town and City centres
- Anti-social behaviour is putting increasing pressure on pubs and clubs
ChiBAC is committed to reducing crime, violence and anti-social behaviour throughout the Chichester District, by pro-active partnership working. It is managed by a Board of Management made up from the membership and is non-political and non-profit making.
